Project: My city at school nº1

In my practice at school nº1 with my partner Daniel Segatta we planned a class based on
project work. The aim was to make a revision of the concepts we had worked on in the previous classes (names of stores, prepositions)The students had to make a scale model of a city. They worked on groups and at the end of the project they made a presentation in front of the class, telling their classmates the name of their cities and producing sentences telling how the cities were.
They worked wonderfully and they really enjoyed it!

Practice II
Practice paper nº 3
Baldomè, Daiana; Corso, Erica; Irusta, Carla; Huivan, Sabina.

Lesson plan of a song for Young Learners of English

Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.

Objectives for the lesson:

· To revise/learn parts of the human body.
· To integrate new concepts to learners vocabulary.
· To relate body language with learning.
· To make connections between the new language and body enactment.
· To make students participate actively.
· To revise colours and functions of the senses: look, see, smell, touch, taste.

Lexis: Vocabulary concerning different parts of the body, such as: head, shoulders, mouth, knees, toes, eyes, ears, nose, hair, fingers, hands, tongue, lips, teeth, feet.

Structures:

· Wh-questions.

· Verb ‘to be.’

 Questions to elicit meaning:

Where is the ....head.....?

Where are the...eyes...?

What is the colour of your hair/eyes?

What do you do with your ears/eyes?

Warm up:

Flashcards with the drawings and the names of the different parts of the body mentioned in the song, and those we added.

Questions: What are these? –Eyes.
What is the colour of your eyes? –Green.
What do you do with your eyes? –We can see.

Students are going to learn the song’s lyrics by watching a video and listening to it three times.

We will invite students to go to the front of the class, so that they can paste the flashcards in the structure of a body made of cardboard.

The teacher will also provide copies of the lyrics for each student so that they can follow the song.

After these activities learners  will develop TPR in the following way:

While listening to the song, they will have to signal the parts in their bodies (8 students will come to the front of the class and imitate the movements that the characters in the video perform).

Follow-up:

Assignment: we will tell students to draw and paint a family member, or their favourite cartoon, movie character, etc. After this, a show and tell activity will follow; learners will present their drawings to the rest of their classmates and teacher (audience), and describe it by making use of the microphone. In this way, students will begin to get used to speak in public.
For example:

This is a monster. His name is Mike Wazowski. It is green and it has got a light blue eye, a mouth and white teeth.
